Chapter 6: Meeting

Thevor hacked and slashed through the demons. The Heldum Blade was unstoppable. No enemy could defeat him. And for hours he fought on and on, ignoring the toll it was taking on his body. Thevor Onrad was in a rage due to what happened to the general.

Conflict was his enemy. It always struck those near him. When he was a child his family was slaughtered when there was an invasion of Cormund by the elves. It was a short battle, and the elves were of a rebel group, but it was still conflict.

He could not help but remember this as he fought. Even when enemies got close, his body reacted automatically. Nothing could touch him and he was almost at peace. He had time to contemplate the power of the blade.

Thevor yelled at himself. This is pointless. No matter how many I slaughter, their numbers are too great. The battlefield was still full of demons, dragons, humans, elves, and now it seemed the Scalons had arrived.

From across the battlefield Thevor spotted it. A shining blade being wielded by a Scalon. Somehow he knew it was a Heldum Blade.

“There is more than one?” he asked himself. “What are these...” he wondered looking at it. Thevor Onrad made his way towards the Scalon.

“Scalon!” he yelled as he approached.

Divarus turned towards him and saw a human wielding a Heldum Blade. “Have you been chosen to?”

“Yes.” Onrad replied thinking he was referring to Stormrage giving him permission to wield the sword. However, Divarus was wondering if an Avatar had given him the blade.

“How long have you possessed this blade?” Divartus asked wondering if they had been chosen at the same time, or if he was the last. Perhaps he was the first.

“Not two hours ago.”

The Scalon nodded. He then noted a demon advancing. “We have no more time to talk.”

The Scalon leapt forward to attack and to his surprise the two Heldum Blades emitted a powerful light. A large sword was created from this light and it slashed the demon in half before exploding into a burst of light rays.

“What was that?” Divarus asked.

“I have no idea...my blade has never done that before.”

“The blades seemed to share their power...” Divarus observed. “Perhaps their true power lies in them being together.”

“Are there only two?” Thevor asked.

“I do not know. However the legends spoke of ten blades. If so, I can not imagine the power of all ten together.”

It was then that the two noticed a circle of demons had formed around them. They all looked afraid as they observed the two Heldum Blades. Then from behind them came a roar.

“Clear the way!” it roared. And from the crowd stepped forth a gigantic eight foot demon. And in his hand was a Heldum Blade.

“You two shall fall. Even if we all wield the power of Heldum..I will destroy you!” he yelled rushing forward. He swung the blade, but the blade simply shrunk into a ball of light and missed.

“What on Terra?” he exclaimed. He attempted to strike at Divarus again. Then again. And again.

“The Blades don’t harm their allies.” Divarus explained. “You can not use that weapon to destroy us.”

“Fine! I don’t need this useless weapon...” the demon said as he threw it aside. He then pulled out an adamantium blade and attempted to strike with that. However, the Heldum Blade flew through the air and blocked the blade.

“No matter how hard you try...that blade won’t let you hit us.” said the Scalon smiling as he looked at the Heldum Blade.

“Grah!” the demon snorted. “Then one of you...you lowly soldiers. Finish them off!” The crowd did not react to this at all. They were all too afraid to approach.

“Destroy them!” he screamed. Again no one listened.

“You weaklings! Do as I say!”

From above came a laugh. The Heldum Warriors looked up to see a man with a grey cloak floating above them. “You aren’t worthy of such power, Zorrith.”

“How do you know my name?” Zorrith said surprised.

“Oh there is no point in explaining. You won’t be able to remember once I kill you.”

The Heldum Blade on the ground rose into the air and plunged itself through Zorrith after the man made a slight motion with his hand.

“How in the world did he get his hand on such a weapon...” pondered the stranger.

“Who are you?” Thevor asked.

“My name is X. I am a Dimensional Mage, and I am here to oversee the coming war.”

“Coming war? It is already here.” exclaimed Thevor.

“This is only the start. And so far you two are failing as saviors. You won’t be able to defeat the Chaos Lord with your shoddy skills.”

The two Heldum Warriors tried to speak, but X silenced them. “Go and train now. When you have become real warriors...return to finish this battle.”

X exploded in a massive burst of light that spread across the sky and created a gigantic dome over the battlefield. Divarus and Thevor were teleported outside of the dome.

Inside, they saw an incredulous sight. Everyone was frozen. The battle had stopped. “Did he just...freeze time?” Divarus asked.

“I don’t know what he did...but I think it is best if we listen to him.”

“You think we should just abandon the battle to go and train?”

Thevor stared at the frozen armies. “It isn’t a battle when no one moves...”

Chapter 5: Death

General Stormrage marched forth with his army. They were at this point only a day away from reaching the forests of Vander, home of the elves. The human soldiers had made excellent progress. Even though the humans hadn’t had strong trading or political relations with the elves, they were somehow still willing to fight to defend them.

“Sir! We have spotted dragons on the horizon. They seem to be moving in the same direction as us.” reported a soldier.

“Dragons? Hopefully they are on our side and not the demons.” Stormrage thought.

“Sir, if you don’t mind me asking...what have you been carrying during this journey?” asked the soldier. He had spotted a large bag on the General’s horse with the royal seal upon it.

“It is something that is vital to our winning of this war. Unfortunately, I can’t yet tell any of you what it is.”

“Sorry, sir.”

“There is no need to be sorry. In fact this is something that must be given. You will all know soon enough when I select the person to wield it.”

The soldier began to contemplate what type of weapon it was. Perhaps it was an enchanted blade designed to fight demons. Or perhaps it was something even greater. One of the legendary Avatar Weapons perhaps.

“What is your name?” Stormrage asked a minute later.

“Private Onrad.”

“Full name.” Stormrage asked immediately.

“Private Thevor Onrad.”

“Do you realize the dangers we are facing?” he asked. In fact, Stormrage himself was not entirely sure. If a Chaos Lord was behind this as suspected, what would that mean? What powers did a Chaos Lord possess?

“It isn’t anything we can’t handle.” Thevor responded proudly.

“Wrong.” Stomrage said, a bit angry. “We are fighting demons who are physically superior to us. We are fighting fiery creatures within a forest. Imagine the damage, and the intensity of this battle.”

“If it is so hopeless, then why will we even fight?”

“You already seem to know the answer.” Stormrage observed. “You said it wasn’t anything we couldn’t handle. Explain.”

“Well...we need to defend those who are in danger. Even if the threat is great, someone needs to stand up. Because if nobody does...then the force will win. And we now know we aren’t alone. The dragons are coming...which means other are too. You have to remain positive, or else the battle is lost before it begins.”

“Wise words. Some of them are mine.” Stormrage said with a chuckle.

“Well I do listen. And they are true. I believe in them.”

“Perhaps you will be the one to wield this blade.” Stormrage noted. “However, this blade is more than a tool for victory. If you receive it, your life will be forever changed.”

“What exactly is it?” Thevor asked, still curious.

“Now is not the time...” Stormrage began. “Demons!” he yelled.

As they came over a hill, they saw the army of demons was advancing in their direction. The dragons fought fiercely, but the army continued forward.

“Everyone! Prepare for battle!” Stormage yelled. As he did this, seven gigantic fireballs flew towards the army. They smashed into the ground and exploded, killing a large portion of humans. The flames spread, trapping even more soldiers.

“Everyone scatter!” Stormrage commanded. The troops moved quickly, but could not evade the next barrage of fire. The army was once again hit.

Private Onrad ran as fast as he could forward with the few remaining soldiers. The demons had already pushed through Vander, which meant they were heading towards the human kingdoms. This was now their war.

Before another set of fire could be launched, a silver dragon swooped down and took out the mages. In demon armies there were usually a very small number of mages, and they usually were grouped. This made taking them down easy.

The dragons landed in front of the army and began to act as living shields. The human troops still advanced forward regardless of their numbers. One demon soldier escaped the blockade and ran towards Stormrage.

The demon roared a battlecry as he leapt forward and swung his blade downwards. Stormrage’s arm was chopped off as the sword cut through his iron armor. He screamed in pain as blood tumbled down his body.

Using his right arm, Stormrage swung his blade and managed to make a slight cut on the abdomen of the demon. The demon stumbled backwards in pain and that is when Stomrage spoke.

“The blade! Take it, now!” he yelled through the pain.

Thevor ran to the bag and opened it and found a golden blade. This sword was not gold, though. It had a shine to it...a white aura. This blade was of an entirely different substance.

He grabbed the blade and ran forward. The demon swung at his side, but he rolled beneath the strike and parried. The odd blade sliced through the demon’s body and split him in half.

The sight was horrifying. The demon had been slain, and his blood covered the ground. Stormrage was gravely injured, and his arm also laid in a pool of blood.

“Medic!” Thevor yelled.

A mage who was fighting near the two ran over. He arrived at the scene and immediately responded with a spell to prevent the general from losing anymore blood.

“Can you reattach his arm?” Thevor asked.

It is too late.” the mage said, apologizing. He bent down to inspect Stormrage. He had passed out from the pain and was moaning. “He is in bad condition. I can stabilize him, but we will need a real healer.”

The mage did so, and a blue aura surrounded Stormrage. The soldier stared at the blade. “Do you know what this is?” he asked the mage.

“It is very magical in nature...” observed the mage. “However, the substance is unfamiliar. It is imbued with great amounts of light...could it be?”

“What?” asked the private seeing the amazement of the mage.

“One of the legendary Heldum Blade. A Blade of Light forged by the God of Light...made of the strongest metal.”

“Runic metal?” Thevor asked.

“No, the legendary metal called Elderium.”

Chapter 4: Dimensional

Chapter 4: Dimensional

With X’s next thought, he found himself in the heart of the Shape Changer capital city, which was the center of a cave. The area was dimly lit, only a single flame existed, and that flame came from a dragon.

“King of Shape Changers.” X said bowing. “I have brought you a message.”

The dragon turned to face him. Shape Changers had the ability to know who was one of their kind, and so the King knew X’s identity even though he was in bear form.

“You are young. A young one of our species. And you managed to find yourself here in my personal chamber. Perhaps you are simply sneaky. Or perhaps you are a mage. Tell me who you are first. Then I will listen to this message.” the King demanded.

“I am X from the village of Ruin. And I am not a mage...I am more a user of magic. I have not studied magic in any forms, therefore I am not an official mage.”

“Now you may give me the message, X the User of Magic.” the King responded. This Shape Changer was a clear threat. He teleported himself straight into the city, and straight to himself. And now he was saying he never studied magic. This was not possible, so the kind grew suspicious. However he did not fear for his life.

“It is a message from Queen Slzin of the Elves. The demons have turned upon them and are waging a war. The forests are burning and the elves are being crushed. She wishes for us to send help.” X reported. He hadn’t even opened the letter.

“Give me the letter.” said the King. The King took it and read it. “I see. I shall think on the matter.”

“I shall be going then.” X said.

“No.” the King said stopping him. “I would like you to meet with my chief Magical Advisor. His name is Grimstone and you can find him in a chamber not far from here. I trust you won’t have trouble finding it.”

X nodded. With a thought he was once again gone. This time he appeared in a very lush section of the caves. There was a waterfall here, and the air was humid. Large tropical plants decorated the chamber.

“I detect a presence.” said an owl sitting in a tree. The head of the owl turned around and he looked at the bear. “Who are you?” it asked intrigued. This was Grimstone (X was able to detect that immediately) and he was intrigued by X. The power coming from him was not at all impressive, but he sensed a void almost. A void from which he could draw any type of magic.

“I am X. The King sent me to see you.”

“Well make yourself comfortable. What did he want you to see me for?” asked Grimstone as he swooped downwards and landed on a branch closer to X.

“He is concerned about my magic.” X replied, having read the King’s thoughts earlier.

“Why would he be concerned?”

“Because I haven’t studied magic a day in my life.”

Grimstone was curious. Did he mean that he had never used magic before today? If so, then this was an interesting case. Was his magic unstable? Was it natural ability?

“When was the first time you used magic?” Grimstone asked searching for this answer.

“Fifteen minutes ago.” X responded. “I was given this power.”

“By whom?”

“Not a person. I was given this magic by magic itself.” X responded. “I can not divulge any further information.”

“I see. And are you having problems controlling it?”

“Not at all. I am having trouble understanding it. I want to know what I am.” X said. He understood the magic itself, but why it had chosen him was something even he didn’t know. He was not educated as a mage.

“It seems to be a very obscure and rare form of magic. Traditional mages are born with talent or study the use of magic. However in some rare cases, magic must be given and can not be studied. One of these rare forms is yours. Astral, Planar, and Dimensional are the three odd forms. Each one is higher in power with Astral being weakest, Planar in the middle, and Dimensional as the highest. Now tell me how you have used your magic thus far.” Grimstone asked.

“I have used it for teleportation, and persuasion. For reading minds.”

“Hmm. All of those are attainable by regular magic, however you gained them instantly. This is more than Astral magic then...you either possess Planar or Dimensional powers.”

“What are the differences between them?” X asked.

“Planar magic is quite literally the magic of the world. It allows you to do anything that you can dream of.” Grimstone explained.

“And there is something more powerful than that?” X questioned.

“You must truly understand Planar first. Planar is everything wordly..which does not include the Divines, Gods, Goddesses, Deities, however you refer to them. In theory Dimensional would allow one to even control one of those.”

“So I either contain the power to change the world how I want...or I control that and the gods?” X asked hardly believing it.

“Yes. There are other explanations...but you should know. Although I regret the fact you can not tell me, I respect that decision. Based upon how you got your magic will determine what it is.”

“How would one gain Dimensional or Planar Magic?”

“That is something even I do not know.” Grimstone said disappointed. “Perhaps you can help me find the answer to that one day. However I do have some advice before you go.”

“Advice?”

“About your magic. I would advise you only test it on a small scale. Performing larger tasks, if your magic isn’t as powerful as you think, would be bad not only for yourself...but for all of us.”

“This power is too much for one being to control.” X said.

“It is. The fact you can see that is a good sign.” Grimstone said smiling. “I am sure you will be fine. However if you do wish to seek an answer...there is someone who can help you.”

“Who?” X asked eager for help. Despite the fact these powers gave him clarity of thought, he still wanted to learn how to control them and what they were. They did not give him knowledge.

“Your opposite. Everything in this world has a counterpart in the other world, Negatorio.”

“Negatorio?” X asked. He had heard of this place. It was a world of negation. What existed in it was simply a contradiction in our world. It was impossible to explain, it was just the opposite. And true opposites at that. The opposite of the sun is not the moon. The opposite of the sun can exist only in Negatorio.

“Yes. Your powers...I am unsure if they would let you survive the journey. And I wouldn’t risk it.”

X thought to himself. The inner voice within him spoke. “Negatorio can not harm you. Go seek your answers.”

“I am sorry, Grimstone. Thank you for your help...but I need answers. I’m going to Negatorio.”

Grimstone knew he couldn’t stop X. And before he could even attempt, the Shape Changer had left. Grimstone was both saddened and excited at the same time. If X did return...he would return with knowledge of this world that was far greater than his.

Chapter 3: Rebirth

Ruin, Shape Changer Village

X ran through the village in the form of a deer. Ruin, his home, was a series of buildings built into a large cave. X had lived here his entire life, and had never once left. He had always wanted to leave, but he feared the outside world. X had heard tales of horrible beasts outside.

Due to his ability to shape change, it would normally be no problem to become something fierce to scare off the animals. However, X was not familiar with any strong creatures and could never properly change into one.

Several times he had nearly transformed into a bear, but the form was sloppy and fell apart quickly. Today was an interesting day though. He saw a bear at the edge of Ruin and was able to study it.

Now he had the form memorized in his head and X was excited. He ran around Ruin as a deer due to this excitement. Now he had the opportunity to leave. But this was a big decision. Should he leave? Or should he stay?

“Someone seems anxious.” said a Shape Changer in the form of an eagle looking upon the city.

“Oh its nothing.” X responded. “I just have some stuff on my mind. Just trying to think some stuff through.” His tone was more nervous than he first thought.

“Well just make sure not to act too suspicious. I hear that a messenger may be coming to this city. We wouldn’t want to scare off a member of the other races, now would we?” said the eagle sarcastically.

In Shape Changer society the other races were considered weaker. Not because they couldn’t change their form, but because most of them never mastered the form they were in for their entire life. This was an odd concept to understand for Shape Changers. How could you not master your full potential being in the same form all the time? Most Shape Changers could not comprehend it.

X at this time decided to make a dangerous decision. This messenger could bring trouble to Ruin. If he left now, he could avoid the messenger and get away. He would finally be able to escape into the outer world.

With a burst of courage he bounded forth out of the cave and transformed. His body became elastic and he felt his muscles and bone stretch. The feeling was pleasurable as he was stretching outwards. Contracting into a smaller form was the painful transformation. X’s body quickly settled and the fur grew from his body while his claws emerged.

Being a bear was incredible. He could not believe the power contained within himself and the beauty of the outside world. He had never known it, but right outside of the cave past a few trees was a pond.

X stared into the calm waters and was immediately glad he had decided to leave. He felt a warm sense of joy and a rush of excitement. X continued on through the forest, observing everything.

Occasionally he would come across a smaller animal who would run from him. This feeling was an odd one to X. No one had ever been scared of him before, and the terror in the animals gave him a sense of guilt.

For hours he roamed around the forest, avoiding this feeling and trying to take in the joys of the outer world. However, no matter how hard he tried, he could not shake the feeling. The looming guilt was tearing away at him.

He did not have time to sort out his feelings however, as he quickly plummeted through the ground. He heard a snap, and the twigs beneath him cracked. The hole was gigantic and he fell down so far that he could no longer see the sky. He was surrounded in pure darkness when he hit the ground.

X quickly gathered himself and looked around. He was standing on an odd goop of some sort. This was not a solid substance he noted as he began to sink in. This was not quicksand, for it was semi-clear and sparkled. Whatever it was, it had grabbed his claws and pulled them downward.

Panicking X tried to transform into a bird and fly away, however as he detached his muscles and flesh he noticed they would not move. His body was now being stretched downwards. X struggled, but he was continuously stretched and pulled downwards.

He soon found himself submerged and somehow still able to breathe. The goo did not enter his lungs, and seemed to give off breathable air. As he fell he began to feel an expanded consciousness. X’s eyes closed and he could feel the land around him. He could feel the forest above, the creatures moving about the earth, and the movements of Terra itself.

Suddenly he knew what this was. This was magic. Pure magic, which had gathered here. This was a dangerous situation, but yet he felt calm. Everyone knew pure magic was unstable and anyone who came into contact with it would usually die or go insane.

However, X felt calm. The magic felt like it was becoming one with him instead of harming him. His mind continued to expand he could feel Ruin now. He could “see” the Shape Changers. What was happening to him?

“You are changing. You are becoming Wordly. No. You are becoming more than that.” said a voice from within.

“Who are you?” X asked in his mind.

“In a way I am everything. Yet in another way I am you. I am both and neither at once. And this is all a result of my lifeblood.”

“Your lifeblood?” X asked again.

“Magic is the lifeblood of the World. It is what allows it to live and survive, and now you are swimming within it. So in a way we...no, you, are part of the World. World itself.”

“I...understand.” X said strangely. This consciousness from within was merging with him. The feeling was odd. This was all happening so suddenly, and he knew this, yet it felt like an eternity. X understood it all with complete clarity.

“What will happen to me?” he asked himself.

“Once you have finished your transformation, you will return to the world. Of your own will.” replied his mind.

“Transformation? Into what? And of my own will? If that is true..then why can’t I leave right now?”

The consciousness responded. “You are becoming a user of magic. Something very powerful. The Divines will not be able to stop you. And you will leave of your own will. That will be when your transformation is complete.”

X understood again with complete clarity. Once he had attained enough magical energy he would be able to leave. But not yet. So X waited. Time passed, he knew every second (it was exactly 3 minutes and 52 seconds), and then he knew. An alarm of sorts went off in his head and he knew he was ready.

With a thought, the world shifted into a blur and then sorted itself out. He was standing outside the hole as a bear once more. He stared down and was able to see the pool of magic with his now superior vision.

“I can’t let anyone else be exposed to such power.” he thought to himself.

With a thought he closed the passage. The earth shook as large rocks shifted to block it. Unconsciously, he even placed a curse upon this place. Anyone who came near would immediately want to leave.

X was amazed by his new powers. “What am I to do now?” he asked himself. With a stray thought he found himself back in Ruin staring at an elf. It was the messenger as he could tell by the clothing.

“Messenger...you come due to the orders of Queen Slzin.” X said reading the mind of the messenger.

“That is correct. I have an important messenger for the leader of the Shape Changers.”

“He does not reside here. But I will be happy to pass through our territory and deliver the message.”

“I am unsure if I can trust you. This was my task, and I must see it through.” the messenger replied nervously.

“Give me the message.” X said intensely. The magic took care of the rest. The elf handed him a letter. “Now, begone.” and with a flash, the elf disappeared.

Chapter 2: Chosen

Aquarius, Capital of the Scalon Empire

Divarus swam through the large transport tube on his way to the Royal Hub. Divarus was a Scalon, a humanoid fish. His head, arms, and feet had soft pale blue skin while the rest of his body was covered in scales.

Aquarius was a standard Scalon city. It was comprised of multiple spherical hubs that separated the various city districts. The walls were made of a clear permeable membrane. The hubs were connected by transport tubes, which Divarus was using now to get from the Residential Hub to the Royal Hub.

He swam quickly through and arrived at the first security gate. This membrane was selectively permeable and only let through Scalons it thought of as not dangerous. Legend says that this was a gift from the Goddess of Water herself, and that all Scalon cities are essentially living.

Divarus passed through with no problem. He continued on to the second security membrane. No problem here either. He continued on through the third, again with no problem. The fourth and final was the actual exterior of the Royal Hub.

Divarus passed through and found himself outside the palace. The building was made of a blue metal found in Terra’s seas and outside of it grew many of the local plants. Divarus entered the castle and bowed before the Council.

As per tradition the Council was made up of three men and three women. Together they ruled Aquarius and all the other Scalon cities. Most of the council members were stern, however one of them was a close friend of Divarus.

His name was Hydri and he was the oldest council member here. His opinion was held in the highest regards among the other council members.

“Divarus, welcome.” said one of the council women. “Are you aware of why you have been summoned today?”

“I am not sure. But I have heard that there is a situation between the elves and demons. I assume it has something to do with that.” Divarus said.

“You are correct.” Hydri said. “But it is much more serious than that. A Chaos Lord has awakened and is controlling the demon forces. There is only one thing in this world that is known to be able to drive a Chaos Lord back.”

“A Heldum Blade?” Divarus asked.

“That is correct.” said another. “And a hero must be chosen to wield the Heldum Blade.”

Divarus was in disbelief. Were they talking about him? He waited for someone to say something as he did not want to embarrass himself. What if he said something and it wasn’t him?

“We have chosen you.” Hydri said.

“Why...why me? I am honored...but I am not a fighter.”

Hydri laughed. “You have been chosen by the Water Goddess herself. Her Avatar appeared before us yesterday and told us you would be needed.”

Divarus was shocked. The Avatar of the Water Goddess had chosen him? But why? He still did not understand.

“You may now wield the blade.” said another.

A small runic symbol in-between them began to glow. The floor shifted and a large cylindrical stone column rose from the ground. The stone cracked and exploded revealing the golden blade. It was a true Heldum Blade.

Divarus stepped forth and grabbed the Blade. It felt heavy, but it gradually got lighter as he held it. The blade began to glow and a beam of light shot upwards, through the palace roof, the hub itself, and out of the water towards the sky. When the beam stopped a Scalon surrounded in dark blue armor emerged from the water itself.

The water swirled around and from that she appeared. “Warrior of the Light, I greet you.” she said. “I am the Avatar of the Water Goddess and I am here to guide you.”

“Guide me?” Divarus asked.

“Yes. The Heldum Blade is an extremely powerful weapon, and you are not yet ready to use it unsupervised.”

“Then why choose me?” he asked.

“Anyone would be unprepared...but you are the most pre-prepared of them all. You are special. Different from other Scalons. The Heldum Blade will...accept you.”

“What does that mean exactly?” Divarus asked.

“You will have to trust me. It is very complicated and it goes back to the creation of the Ten Blades. Now I need you to come with me. You already know of the war occurring.”

“Between the demons and elves.” Divarus said nodding.

“You will need to end that war.” the Avatar said.

“End the war? I don’t think I am capable of doing such...”

“You do not realize that the method to ending the war lies within the Heldum Blade. With this blade, you are to strike down the Chaos Lord. Strike him down and the demons will be freed.”

“Freed? They are being controlled by the Chaos Lord?” Divarus asked surprised.

“Yes. But it is more troublesome than that. The Chaos Lord is being controlled by a dark force. He is merely being used as a tool to control the demons. Defeating the Chaos Lord is only the first step. I fear a larger war will soon begin.”

Divarus began to grasp the situation. This was far bigger than he was. What if he could not stop the Chaos Lord? What would happen then?

The Avatar saw the concerns he had. “If you fail to stop the Chaos Lord, that will buy us some time. However, your world will continue to be burned by the forces of fire.”

“How would that buy us some time?” Divarus asked confused.

“The Avatars. The Gods themselves want to know what is happening. The God of Fire is not behind this movement in the forces of fire, and the Chaos Goddess is not in control of the Chaos Lord. We would like to find out what is happening. Unfortunately we can not afford to wait.”

“I understand.” Divarus said. His goal frightened him, but he felt an odd sense of security. The Water Avatar trusted him for some reason, and although it didn’t make sense...there was a reason. Whatever that reason was, it was what he needed to utilize to defeat the Chaos Lord.

The Avatar smiled. “I must leave now, but I trust you can complete this mission.” The blue armor of the Avatar began to glow brightly. The light blinded everyone in the room, and when it disappeared so did the Avatar.

“We should move the army immediately.” Hydri advised. The other council members agreed. They had intended to stay out of this conflict, but fate had other plans. The Scalons had just joined the war.
